Ravenmoor Finance, a small-business funding broker in Ocala, Florida, lists free sources of small business help for Ocala and Marion County owners: advising centers, local business organizations and the official city and county websites. Every organization on this page operates independently of Ravenmoor Finance. Each entry explains what the help is for and how it differs from a broker.
Free help and a broker do different jobs
Free advising helps you build the business case: a cash-flow projection, a plan for a second location, a cleaner set of books. A broker helps you take that case to lending partners. The two work well in sequence. Ravenmoor Finance is not affiliated with, endorsed by or a partner of any organization on this page, and none of them is affiliated with us.
The two official local government websites
The City of Ocala's official website is ocalafl.org and Marion County's is marioncountyfl.org. Both were confirmed reachable in our evidence review on 2026-10-16. They are the starting point for local business tax receipts, permits and economic development contacts.
Small business development centers
Owners often search for the 'Florida SBDC network' and 'Florida small business development center'. Small business development centers typically offer free, confidential advising on planning, finance and growth. Ask the nearest center whether it reviews projections or loan packages before you approach a lender.
Chamber and economic development organizations
Searches for 'Ocala CEP', 'Ocala CEP directory' and 'Ocala Marion County Florida chamber of commerce' show how often owners look for the local chamber and economic development organization. These groups typically offer networking, member directories and site-selection help for larger projects.
SBA district office
SBA district offices can point owners toward lenders that take part in the agency's programs. If an SBA-backed loan fits your plan, the district office can point you to participating lenders. Ravenmoor Finance places no SBA-backed loans.
Grants
We do not arrange grants. Owners looking for grant programs should ask the advising centers and local organizations above, which track what is currently available.
Questions to ask any free advisor
- Will you review a cash-flow projection before I take it to a lender?
- Do you help with plans for a second location or a major equipment purchase?
- Can you review my bookkeeping setup so personal and business spending are separate?
- Do you run workshops on financial statements or taxes for small businesses?
An advisor who helps with the projection and a broker who helps with the funding cover different ground; using both is common.
Documents worth bringing to an advisor
- The latest tax return and a current P&L
- Bank statements from the past few months
- A one-page description of what you want to fund and why
- Any quotes, bids or lease terms involved
- Each current loan, line or advance, listed
The same set of documents serves a funding request later. When you are ready, the six funding structures show where your plan fits, and the term loan page covers larger projects such as a second location. County figures are on the Ocala, FL page, and more guides are on the resources hub.
